Tony Finau hit a woman in the face with golf ball and has never been more popular.
The 26-year-old Tour pro was playing the Colonial in Fort Worth, Texas, this weekend, and bounced a shot off an unsuspecting fan named Elisa, leaving her with a bloodied mug that needed stitches.
The ball ricocheted off her face and back into play, so Finau owed her. Also, you know, he pretty felt a bit bad about the accident.
According to Elisa’s Instagram post, Finau showed up at her door with “flowers, chocolates, a get well soon card, and he stayed and talked with us for a bit.”
“I wish you the best of luck in the tour going forward!” Elisa wrote. “Signed, your new favorite fan.”
Finau, too, posted a picture, still asking for forgiveness (which was granted). “#SOORRYY”
The lesson? When a golfer you’d like to meet gets a little wild, just pull a Craig Biggio and lean in.
