Jordan Spieth’s lucky streak extends beyond the fairways.
After finishing second to Jason Day at the PGA Championship this past weekend, the 22-year-old major champ returned to his native Texas to throw out the first pitch at the Rangers-Mariners game on Tuesday. With a dinner bet on the line with British Open champ Zach Johnson — who was tasked to toss a ball over home plate at the Cubs game the same night — Spieth fired a strike, ultimately fulfilling a life-long dream.
“My whole life, I’m just a Dallas sports fan,” Spieth shared with MLB.com. “I used to come a while back, and my dad and I would go up and we’d just sneak down to better and better seats.”

Though Spieth admits his seating upgrades have been “a cool experience,” his night took a turn for the unexpected after scoring a date offer from the reigning Miss Texas, Shannon Sanderford, who was also in attendance. Following her first pitch, the beauty queen rapped about courting golf’s new No. 1 player.
“Yo Ranger fans Miss Texas’ in the house, c’mon y’all let me hear a shout out, I threw the first pitch got it over home plate, hey Jordan Spieth wanna call me for a date?”
Sanderford may want to get in line behind Kendall Jenner: Spieth has been dating longtime gal pal Annie Verret since high school.
