Rory McIlroy doesn’t want to think about golf without Tiger Woods.

The Irish golfer sent out a heartfelt Instagram post Tuesday after Woods held a sobering press conference in which the 39-year-old great laid out an uncertain future.

“Wishing my idol and friend a speedy recovery. Golf without him doesn’t bear thinking about. Hope to see you back on the course soon @tigerwoods,” McIlroy wrote.

Woods has no timetable for his return from back surgery and it felt like a possibility he may have played his last round on the PGA Tour when he talked about any future competitiveness being “gravy.”

McIlroy-Woods seemed like a rivalry in the making before Tiger’s game fell off a cliff due to injuries and swing issues.
