On one team will be Tom Brady and Phil Mickelson. On the other will be Peyton Manning and Tiger Woods. Four great athletes, two sets of rivals, joining together for a terrific cause.
Sunday afternoon they will meet in a nationally-televised, 18-hole golf exhibition, entitled, “The Match: Champions for Charity,” at Medalist Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Fla, to raise at least $10 million for COVID-19 relief efforts. It will also include a partnership with the ALL IN Challenge, along with other on-course competitive challenges for charity.
With all sports other than mixed martial arts still waiting to return amid this pandemic, this event should draw plenty of eyeballs, particularly since the four combatants will be wearing microphones and have the capability of communicating with other golfers and the announcers. Mickelson and Woods have battled each other for years , winning a combined 20 majors (15 by Woods). The same can be said for Brady and Manning, two future Hall of Famers, whose teams met 17 times in their career with Brady’s team winning 11 times.
Mickelson and Woods have faced off in an event like this before. Back in 2018, Mickelson outlasted Woods in 22 holes to win the $9 million purse in Las Vegas.
How to watch The Match:
The event will be broadcast live on TNT, TBS, truTV and HLN. It can also be streamed on TBS.com, TNTdrama.com, along with the TNT, TBS and Bleacher Report apps on mobile devices.

Where is The Match being played:
The match will be played at Medalist Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Fla. Woods is a member at the course, which was designed by Greg Norman and Pete Dye in 1995 and redesigned by Bobby Weed in 2015.
What is the format of The Match:
It is an 18-hole match, with the front and back nine played differently. The front nine is Four-Ball. The lower of the two scores is the team’s score for the hole. The lower score between the two teams wins the hole. Brady and Manning will each be given three strokes on the front nine.
The fifth hole will be a special challenge, where each golfer can use one club of their choosing.
One of those will be on a par 3, one on a par 4 and one on a par 5. Which holes they will be used upon will be decided by a committee. The back nine will be the Pinehurst format, which is also known as a Modified Alternate shot. Each player on the team gets a tee shot. The best tee shot of the two is selected and the players will then alternate from there.
There will be no handicap used in the back nine for Brady and Manning. After 18 holes, if there is a tie the match will continue with a shortened hole in the same format as the back nine. It will be only from 100-125 yards from the 18th green until a winner is decided.
