Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are already betting big on “The Match.”
With their big head-to-head showdown just days away, the two have already put down some big money on the first hole at Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas on Friday.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Mickelson showed some bravado in making one of the $9 million matchup’s side bets.
“I’m willing to risk 100,000 that says I birdie the first hole,” he said. “That’s how good I feel heading into this match.”
“Hold on,” Woods responded, taking a moment to mull the challenge. “… So you think you can make birdie on the first hole? Double it.”
“See how I baited him like that?” Mickelson said with a laugh.
The two then debated their approach to the opening hole.
Pay-per-view, available for $19.99, will be the only way to watch the proceedings, as the course will be closed to the public.
