Tiger Woods having secret intentions for the Masters is becoming a tradition unlike any other.

Agent and mouthpiece Mark Steinberg told GolfChannel.com on Monday there is “no further update at the moment” on Woods’ plans to play the year’s hallowed first major as he continues to recover from a career-threatening back procedure late last year.

It’s a non-answer, a refusal to share any real information about the golf legend’s potential comeback. But it’s not a “no.”

Stoking the suspense is that Woods faces no hard deadline for committing to the Masters. He only needs to show up before his scheduled first-round tee time on April 7. He has a lifetime exemption at Augusta as a four-time champion.

The 40-year-old has not started a tournament since last August, and recent reports painted a grim picture of Woods’ health status: He “can’t move well,” a veteran golf writer relayed, and experiences pain sitting, forcing him to fully recline when in his car.

To dispute that speculation, Woods released a video last month on social media hitting a 9-iron with the caption, “progressing nicely.” During an appearance on March 2, Woods said: “Dealing with nerves, there is no timetable.”
