Tony Romo’s recent golf outing appeared to take a painful turn Tuesday.
The former Cowboys quarterback, who called it a career in 2017 amid back troubles, is participating in this week’s Wisconsin Match Play Championship, where he attempted to alleviate some pain by stretching out on the course.
The moment caught social media’s attention as Romo was seen doing a “cat-cow” yoga pose just as his opponent attempted to putt on the 14th hole and missed.
“Not distracting at all,” NFL Network’s Jane Slater remarked, while another fan tweeted, “Aye, if that’s me i’m like you can’t be out here doing cat-cows on the fringe while I’m lining up the putt lmao. go a little further away please.”
Romo was sidelined for much of the 2016 regular season after injuring his back during the preseason. He announced his retirement the next offseason.
The CBS NFL analyst, 42, told WisDotGolf on Tuesday how his back “definitely pops up more often” than he’d like.
Tony Romo participates in the PGA TOUR Champions ClubCorp Classic in April 2022. PGA TOUR“But I played 36 holes yesterday,” Romo continued, per Larry Brown Sports. “I do this whole routine beforehand. I can’t just show up and play.”
Romo would win the match over Sam Cianciolo to improve 3-0 in the event.
