PORT ST. LUCIE – Say this for Pedro Martinez. He doesn’t make excuses. When asked about Jose Canseco’s accusations, concerning the use of steroids by some of baseball’s top sluggers, Martinez said yesterday, “I’m not going to sit here and whine because they took me deep.

“It’s over with, I don’t have anything to say about steroids. I don’t know anything about steroids. I don’t understand steroids, I don’t even know what steroids looks like.

“The only thing I know is what they have told us in the clinics during spring training. ‘Don’t use it,’ whatever, that’s all I know. I’ve never seen steroids.”
