Fresh off blowing a two-goal lead to the Flyers at home, the ailing Islanders open a three-game road trip today in Detroit.

With Shawn Bates, Petteri Nokelainen and Oleg Kvasha still on the injury list, the Isles yesterday recalled forwards Wyatt Smith and Kevin Colley, as well as Bruno Gervais, leading AHL defensemen with eight goals, from Bridgeport. Forward Robert Nilsson was sent to Bridgeport.

The Red Wings have only won four of their last 10 (4-5-1), and are currently without forward Robert Lang and defenseman Jiri Fischer, who suffered a seizure on the bench last month and experienced heart irregularity last week.

The Isles, expected to use seven defensemen today, complete their trip with visits to St. Louis Tuesday and Columbus Thursday.
