HOLIK TALKS HIT THE ROCKS
The Devils’ contract talks with Bobby Holik have hit a major snag, The Post has learned.
Holik, a potential unrestricted free agent, appears uninterested in accepting a deal along the lines of that signed by Martin Brodeur that involves significant deferred payments.
Brodeur makes $6.8 million per, with another $1.2M deferred. Holik is believed seeking $7M per.
Meanwhile, Lamoriello is said to still be seeking a defenseman, with Darius Kasparaitis the latest name mentioned. Edmonton’s Tom Poti is probably his most likely acquisition, while Carolina GM Jim Rutherford yesterday declared David Tanabe off market.
