With Sylven Landesberg now one of the top freshmen in the ACC at Virginia, the chance of Holy Cross repeating as CHSAA city champion is remote, but the Knights took a step in that direction with their opening-round 82-64 victory over St. Peter’s yesterday at Molloy.

“We knew it was going to be different without him,” said head coach Paul Gilvary, whose team was led by Eric Klingsberg’s 29 points and advanced to play Christ the King on Thursday in the quarterfinals. “But we did what we had to do and now we’ll take a shot at Christ the King.”

Also yesterday, All Hallows held off St. Francis Prep, 65-63 in OT. Prep forced the extra session with a pair of free throws with less than a second left, but All Hallows survived and will face Xaverian on Friday.
