An Indy 500 crew member was carried off on a stretcher after being struck by his racer’s car less than halfway through the competition.

Chris Minot, a tire changer part of Jordan King’s team, was sent to the track floor grimacing in pain Sunday after King accidentally rammed into him on the pit road during lap 69 of 200 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Minot suffered a non-threatening lower leg injury as a result of the scary scene, according to USA Today, and was transferred to IU Methodist Hospital for further evaluation.

Simon Pagenaud won the racing spectacle after staving off Alexander Rossi late.
