Nehro, who finished fourth in Saturday’s Belmont Stakes, exited the race with an ankle chip in his right front fetlock that will require surgery and cause the colt to miss the remainder of races this summer.

“It’s not career-ending, but it sets us back,” said owner Ahmed Zayat. “He’ll miss the summer, but we’re still hoping to point to the Breeders’ Cup Classic.”

Nehro is scheduled to undergo surgery tomorrow at the Rood and Riddle Equine Clinic in Lexington, Ky.
