Royal Anthem, second in the Breeders’ Cup Turf and an impressive winner of the Gulfstream Park Breeders’ Cup Handicap, has a tendon injury that will prevent him from going to Dubai and racing in the $2 million Dubai Turf Classic. He injured the flexor tendon in his left leg and it is unknown how long he will be out of training.
1ST RACE — Lisa Lewis had entered Miss Jennie E in a maiden special weight race at Philadelphia Park on Tuesday but she opted to scratch and await this event. The move paid off as Miss Jennie E drew away to an impressive victory under Joe Bravo. Longshot Alylivia saved ground and then pulled away to finish second.
2ND RACE — Intrasigence rated off the pace and then closed well on the outside to gain the victory. Exclusive Eskimo saved ground throughout and was a good second. Always Try Love raced on the rail and finished third.
3RD RACE — After finishing fourth in allowance company, Critical Thinker was disqualified from first in his maiden victory for testing positive to Ergonovine. He returned to the maiden ranks while trying a route for the first time. Aaron Gryder sent him to the front while entering the clubhouse turn and he was never threatened seriously as he finally won his maiden race. Favorite Affair saved ground while close to the pace and then started to fade back on the far turn. He then came on again while nearing the stretch and finished second. Good Boy Sam lost all chance when he broke slow. Juro was caught five wide on the turn.
4TH RACE — John Paul Too was sent off a heavy favorite and set the pace. But first time starter Impeachthepro was close to the pace and was on even terms with John Paul Too in the stretch. Impeachthepro came on near the wire to upset the field at first asking. Tenure lost all chance when he broke slowly. Bravo edged him up through the field and he was a good third. He should be tough to handle next time out.
5TH RACE — Bull Dog Pro is a full brother to Impeachthepro and he ran close to the pace. Golden Returns made a three wide move on the turn to gain the lead, but then Bull Dog Pro started his run. Bull Dog Pro was gaining ground with each stride and at the wire he narrowly edged Golden Returns to gain the victory.
6TH RACE — Norberto Arroyo Jr. saved ground with Shanna while racing last. Entering the stretch Shanna started to make her move splitting horses. Willow Place had made a four wide move on the turn to gain the lead and was battling with Lady Radkey to the wire. There was a huge hole between the two leaders in the stretch and Shanna split both of them to gain the lead and the victory.
7TH RACE — Crescent Coast returned from Suffolk Downs and stalked the early pace set by Believe In Prayer. Crescent Coast moved up to gain the lead and then drew away for the victory. Totally Private lost all chance when she checked sharply at the start.
8TH RACE — Irish Baba tried to speed pop the field and had a lengthy lead for most of the race. Jokers Frangrance rated off the pace but started his run on the far turn. Bravo angled Jokers Frangrance to the rail when there was an opening and he was full of run turning for home. He easily took the lead and drew away for the victory.
10TH RACE — Danny O’Callaghan brought in his local jock Richard Dos Ramos for the ride on Dandy Andy while dropping her to the claiming ranks. She rated off the pace set by Sister Bertie and took the lead before entering the far turn. She drew away from the field while turning for home and went on for the victory. Mimetic was closing well in the stretch but never threatened the winner.
