The Wall Street Journal has more details about a story that didn’t get too much attention in the wake of the Woods’ sex scandal: In 2007, Tiger Woods posed for photos and gave an interview to Men’s Fitness magazine, resulting in an unprecedented peek into his private life, despite a contract with Conde Nast’s Golf Digest.
The reason? Men’s Fitness’ sister publication, the National Enquirer, had photos of Woods allegedly getting busy with a lady that wasn’t his wife. Tiger agreed to the photo shoot and interview in exchange for them squashing the story.
That just probably motivated the Enquirer to confirm the story through other sources, which it did, of course.
