An Iowa football player was seriously hurt when his jet ski hit a boat in Missouri on Friday night.

Defensive back Jack Koerner and a passenger were in the Lake of the Ozarks when their jet ski crashed into the side of a boat, according to a police report.

The other man, Cole Coffin, was taken to a hospital. Koerner’s injuries were not life-threatening, though there was no word on what the exact injuries were.

Koerner, a 21-year-old junior, was a key to the Iowa defense last year, notching 81 tackles and an interception. The free safety earned a scholarship following the 2019 season after joining the team in 2017 as a walk-on.

The Hawkeyes had just begun voluntary workouts last week as they try to ramp up for training camp in the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
