In a trade yesterday that would never be mistaken for a blockbuster, the Islanders sent a seventh-round pick in the upcoming draft to the Lightning for defenseman Ian Herbers. In 37 games, Herbers has zero points and is a minus 12. He has 45 penalty minutes.

The Islanders also assigned right wing Mark Lawrence to Lowell of the AHL.
