It’s “first time, long time” for this judge.
The Manhattan federal judge overseeing the fraud trial of ex-WFAN host Craig Carton said Thursday that she’s open to jurors who are fans of the former “Boomer and Carton” co-host — in fact, she was one, too.
“I have no idea how many WFAN listeners we will have,” Judge Colleen McMahon said before adding that she herself was a long-time listener.
“I, by the way, am a WFAN listener. I listened to Mr. Carton for years,” the judge said in an apparent attempt to make it clear that sports radio fans will be welcome jurors if they agree to remain impartial.
Jury selection in the case is slated to start Monday.
Carton was axed after he was charged last year with a $4.6 million fraud tied to his side business selling bulk tickets to big events. He used some of the money to pay off gambling debts, the feds say.
