The PSAL girls soccer season was supposed to hinder the ability to have weekend tournaments. But with no games this weekend and the field available because of Rosh Hashanah, Forest Hills coach Bob Sprance decided to have the 16th Kiwanis Girls Soccer Tournament at the Queens school Saturday afternoon. The tournament was started by Charlie Zink.

The host team won the tournament, which included Newtown, Arts & Business and Richmond Hill. In the last five years, Forest Hills, which along with Newtown has participated in the event since it started, has won the tournament three times and four times overall. Richmond Hill finished second and Arts & Business took home the sportsmanship award.

Here are the individual awards:

Most Valuable Player: Julia Svitsky, Forest Hills

Most Valuable Defender: Karla Kyriacou, Newtown

Most Valuable Goalkeeper: Malamo Koutsogiannis, Townsend Harris

Most Valuable Midfielder: Kelly Sanchez, Arts & Business

Most Valuable Striker: Lina Dominguez, Forest Hills

All-Star: Ericka Flores, Richmond Hill
