The shakeup of the Knicks’ medical staff continued yesterday with the resignation of long-time team orthopedist, Dr. Norman Scott and his wife Susan, their hand specialist.

Dr. Scott had served 27 years as the Knicks’ doctor but last training camp was replaced by Dr. Lisa Callahan. Last month, Knicks long-time trainer Mike Saunders was reassigned to a less visible role in the front office.

Across the last few years, the Knicks have run into several controversial medical issues, involving knee surgeries with Marcus Camby, Antonio McDyess and Allan Houston.

In a statement Dr. Scott said it was a “privilege” to have worked with the Knicks, Rangers and Liberty.

“With the new direction and focus of our private practices and the continuing of our academic careers, the time has come for us to resign our position with Madison Square Garden,” Dr. Scott said.

A Garden statement said last night, “We thank Norman and Susan Scott for their dedication to the Knicks, Liberty and Rangers over many years and wish them the very best.”
