The Knicks will work out Kansas power forward Nick Collison today. Collison, once slated as a top 10 selection and named to the Olympic qualifying team, has slipped and may not go in the lottery. Collison didn’t impress during strength tests at Chicago’s pre-draft camp and many scouts look at him as a career backup.

The Knicks also have finalized their last assistant-coaching job, handing it to former Atlanta coach Lon Kruger; he has ties with Frank Williams, who recruited him to Illinois. Brendan Malone is the top assistant and Mike Malone and Herb Williams will share the summer-league coaching role, replacing the fired Tom Thibodeau.
