College football might have one of its best commitment videos ever.

Wide receiver Kwazi Gilmer — a 2024 class member — dropped an almost shot-for-shot remake of an old Nike commercial, which starred LeBron James, to announce his commitment to UCLA on Friday.

In Gilmer’s version, he plays various versions of himself, each holding memorabilia of the schools he considered attending.

The minute-long poolside video ended with him wearing an all-white suit and wig, backflipping into the pool and swimming underwater where a UCLA logo flashes on the screen.

The original Nike commercial was part of an ongoing series that ran before the 2006-2007 NBA season, which was James’ fourth season in the league with the Cavaliers.

In each commercial, James plays multiple members of his family, called “The LeBrons,” and the pool installment wrapped up the series.

Other options Gilmer had on the table included Oklahoma, Michigan State, Washington, Stanford and California, but the Sierra Canyon native said UCLA was a place that felt comfortable to him.

“There were a lot of things I liked about UCLA,” Gilmer told 247Sports’ Greg Biggins. “I’ve been there several times and have a really strong comfort level at the school and with the coaches. Jerry Neuheisel (WR coach), that’s my guy and we’re really close.

“He’s actually the reason why I waited until the 11th to make my commitment. When he played, he wore No. 11 so I thought it would be cool to commit on that day for him.”

A four-star recruit, Gilmer’s commitment marks the first confirmed wide receiver prospect to join the Bruins’ 2024 class.
