TORONTO – Although NHL VP Colin Campbell immediately declared there would be no need for further disciplinary review, that verdict preceded the medical report that Bobby Holik’s slash broke Igor Korolev’s finger last night.

Leaf associate GM Mike Smith called for disciplinary action, saying Korolev will miss 6-8 weeks with the injury. Holik, suspended for two games by Campbell earlier this season for “slew-footing,” received a major and game misconduct for his third-period stickwork.

“I was shocked,” Holik said of his ejection. Campbell was in attendance last night and viewed TV replays of the incident, but the Leafs’ protests may prompt him to review the slash.
