Former Rutgers lineman Eric LeGrand, who was paralyzed from the neck down in October of 2010 after a spine injury he suffered during a game, got some positive news last week when he had movement in his fingers.

LeGrand posted a 17-second video that shows his left thumb twitching, and followed that up with a tweet that read, “I had a bunch of my fingers twitching today but only had the video of my thumb #onlyamatteroftime”

LeGrand’s prognosis was not good at the time of the injury, as doctors told him that he would need a respirator to breathe for the rest of his life. A month after the injury, he did not need it. LeGrand also regained movement in his shoulders a few months later, so the recent movement in his fingers is the latest positive sign in his recovery.
