Loose horse is scratched
SARATOGA SPRINGS – Justin Phillip, a 2-year-old colt making his first start for Steve Asmussen, dumped jockey Garrett Gomez on the way to post for the sixth race, ran off the wrong way around the track, then jumped the fence on the backside and escaped into the barn area.
Justin Phillip, a son of First Samurai that cost $400,000 as a yearling, was scratched and all bets on him in the pick 3 and pick 6 went to the posttime favorite, the entry of Gospel Lesson and Thatcatismine. He was the second betting choice at 7-2 when he was scratched.
