Notre Dame starting quarterback Ian Book nose he messed up.
The star senior apologized to the Louisville cheerleader whose nose he accidentally broke with an errant throw during Notre Dame’s 35-17 win Monday over the Cardinals.
“I messaged him back [on Instagram], and I was like, ‘All is good, that’s not your fault,’” Elizabeth Scott, the cheerleader, told For The Win on Tuesday. “’Like, how are you supposed to know the ball’s going to go directly into my face? That’s not your fault.’”
Scott was following the fourth-quarter play on the big screen when those around her began yelling for her to “watch out!”
After being hit, the junior immediately grabbed her face and was taken to an emergency room in Kentucky. Later that evening, she tweeted, “Thank u Ian book,” in response to a highlight of the misfortune that quickly went viral.
Scott also shared a photo of her newly crooked nose, and wrote Tuesday on social media, “I never liked my nose anyways.”
“Personally, I’d much rather make jokes about it and be light-hearted about it and make it a fun experience rather than dwell on the fact that my nose is crooked,” she said in the interview.
“When you go and stand on the sideline at football games, it’s a risk. Anything can happen. I don’t have any anger about the situation or anything.”
