Daniel Butler homered to lead off the top of the 11th inning as Lowell (Mass.) defeated the Staten Island Yankees, 3-2 last night in Game 2 of the New York-Penn League playoffs.

Staten Island will host Lowell again tonight at 7:00, with the winner advancing to the championship series against Mahoning Valley.

Mahoning Valley eliminated the Brooklyn Cyclones with a 3-1 victory in Game 2 of their playoff series in Niles, Ohio.

Jason Kipnis’ second home run in as many games against Brooklyn, this one a two-run shot in the third inning off Cyclones’ starter Brandon Moore, proved to be the difference as the Cyclones managed only two hits off Mahoning Valley pitching. tbontemps@nypost.com
