Dear Bruce,

You have made it fairly clear that Kelly Tripucka won’t return as the Nets’ TV analyst. In his place, you should consider moving Tim Capstraw over from radio.

The problem with Capstraw is his name – nobody knows it. Before becoming an analyst, he coached Wagner for 10 years. That’s not exactly a high-profile job.

Now, Capstraw is the best local NBA analyst. MSG’s Clyde Frazier and Tripucka have big-time playing careers they can lean on. JohnAndariese does a solid job onKnick radio. But none illuminate the action like Capstraw. As an excoach, Capstraw sees the game very clearly and owns the ability to translate his thoughts into analysis that advances storylines.

Bruce, if – or when – you make the move with Tripucka, you would be wise to promote Capstraw. As Clyde might say, “His name is not big, but his words have earned him the gig.”
