American pop star Mariah Carey stunned in a sparkling silver dress while singing the song “Volare” in Italian during the 2026 Winter Olympics opening ceremonies.
Carey performed “Volare,” which was originally composed and sung by Italian artist Domenico Modugno in 1958, after singing “Nothing is Impossible” — which is off her latest album, “Here for it All.”

Opening ceremonies creative director Marco Balich revealed in January that the Queen of Pop was going to perform “a beautiful song in Italian.”
“She will enchant many of us,” Balich said.

“Recognized worldwide for her unmistakable voice and for a musical legacy that spans generations and cultures, Mariah Carey perfectly embodies the emotional spirit of the Games,” organizers said in a statement.
Ahead of the opening ceremony, Carey greeted the viewers in an Instagram post, saying, “See you in Milan,” in Italian.
In addition to Carey, Italian singer Andrea Bocelli, along with singer Laura Pausini, are expected to perform.
