Congratulations to Hideki Matsui, he had a different kind of off-day. He got married.
In New York. Heâs going to talk about it this morning. He did seem awful happy this spring. âI apologize for the sudden notice, but I would like to announce that I, Hideki Matsui, was married yesterday in New York City,” he said. “The bride is a 25-year old civilian and had been formerly working in a reputable position at a highly respected company.ââ
Big day all around. They rename Legends Field Steinbrenner Field today.
Hereâs another chance to rub it in about the weather. Itâs already 72 degrees, and will climb to high 70s. A perfect blue sky. You canât beat it. There is a festive occasion at Steinbrenner Field. Itâs getaway day, the team goes onto Miami with everyone except Ian Kennedy and Andy Pettitte.
As I crossed the bay to get here early this morning I saw another beautiful sunrise. Amazing how much bigger the sun looks down here. Overall, the weather has been a little cool and windy this spring, but you donât want to hear that. Cool and windy here is perfect where you are. It’s fun to watch the temperature gauge rise from 64 to 71 on the way over here.
The traffic is also beginning to thin out as people head back north. The flu is beginning to run through the Yankees clubhouse after racing through the minor league clubhouse. Johnny Damon is still not feeling well, which means the married man Matsui could be in left on Opening Day at the Bronx.
Later.
