The United States leads England 2-1 at halftime of the World Cup semifinals, thanks to goals from Christen Press and Alex Morgan.
Press, who replaced Megan Rapinoe in the starting nine, put the Americans on the board first at the 10th minute. Rose Lavelle played a beautiful long ball to Kelley O’Hara, who placed it perfectly in the air for Press to head into the back of the net.
England answered with the tying tally at the 19th minute, when Ellen White got a foot on a crossed ball that ricocheted off the post and behind the goal line. It was the second time this tournament that the US allowed a goal in the first half.
The Americans retook the lead on a goal from Morgan. A free kick from Abby Dahlkemper found Press, who settled the ball to Lindsay Horan for an easy cross for Morgan to head past England keeper Carly Telford.
Rapinoe, according to Fox Sports, is out with a hamstring injury.
Morgan and White now lead the race for the Golden Boot with six goals each.
