University of Michigan officials probed ousted football coach Sherrone Moore three times over his alleged conduct with women before the axe dropped Wednesday, according to a report.

The married dad of three was sent packing from his highly coveted job leading the storied program over an “inappropriate relationship” with his executive assistant. 

The sudden dismissal comes as questions swirl over what athletic department leaders knew about Moore’s alleged actions, but a source told CBS Detroit that the most recent probe was the third one connected to Moore and other women.

Details on those investigations, including when they took place, weren’t immediately available, but the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that a tipster reached out to the university in mid-October claiming Moore had an inappropriate relationship with a staffer, who was not identified, according to a person familiar with the situation.

The school launched a probe, but both Moore, 39, and the staffer denied the allegations, leaving school officials to not take further action besides hiring an outside law firm to keep looking into it, the person told the outlet.

The woman later reached out to the firm on Wednesday to tell them she and Moore were together for two years until 2024, and had emails, texts and phone call logs to prove it, the person said.

Moore’s mistress was not identified by prosecutors Friday, but the disgraced coach allegedly broke into a home belonging to Paige Shiver, his executive assistant, public records show.

Moore was terminated Wednesday — then arrested a short time later after allegedly bursting into Shiver’s home, grabbing butter knives and kitchen scissors and threatening to kill himself.

He was charged with home invasion, stalking and breaking and entering Friday and was granted a $25,000 bond. 

Prosecutors alleged in court Friday that Moore’s unhinged outburst took place after the victim ended things on Monday, and later contacted the school about the tawdry affair.

Moore also faced other allegations about his behavior during his tenure when at least two other women told school officials that he made unwanted advances toward them online, the person familiar told the Journal.

It’s unclear if further action was taken those times. 

The university has been tight-lipped about the stunning ordeal, though the school president, Domenico Grasso, said in a letter to the school community Thursday, “There is absolutely no tolerance for this conduct at the University of Michigan. None.”

In announcing his ouster Wednesday, Michigan said a probe had found credible evidence that the married father of three had engaged in an “inappropriate relationship” with an employee.

Athletic director Warde Manuel described Moore’s behavior as “a clear violation of university policy.”

Moore had led the program for two years, but was on staff for about eight years.
