Mike Milbury’s trade of Bryan Berard to Toronto for Felix Potvin yesterday represents nothing less than the GM’s complete admission of his failure as a coach. it represents one fo the great leaps backward by an organization that somehow establishes new standards for such retreat with each succeeding (but not successful) season.

However flawed his game on the defensive side of the ice, however immature his work ethic, however much growing up he has to do away from the rink, Berard is still only 21 years old, with every ounce of the breathtaking raw talent that earned him accolades and the Calder Trophy just two seasons ago.
