Mike Francesa sees the light at the end of this sports-less tunnel.

During his return to Sunday mornings for WFAN as part of the station’s coronavirus-related weekend revamp, Francesa spoke of the potential sports utopia that awaits when sporting events can resume.

The notoriously opinionated radio host is under the impression that all postponed sports will eventually converge for a “sports Shangri-La” in July through September.

“Think of the positives of this, none of these leagues are going away,” Francesa, 66, said in a clip captured by The Big Lead. “Baseball is going to come back, football is hopefully going to start untouched. Basketball and hockey are going to figure out how to finish their seasons… it’s going to happen. The majors are going to get played in tennis and golf. You’re going to have the Masters, you’re going to have the U.S. Open, you’re going to have the PGA and the British Open.

“All these events, when we come out of this, whenever the date is we come out of this, all these events are going to get jammed into a couple of months, where we are going to have sports Shangri-La.”

Francesa believes “every day will feel like Christmas” for sports lovers once leagues and events are cleared to resume. There is still no official timeline for when sports might return, but Francesa’s optimism is something everybody can use right now.
