It’s not a Gold Glove or a diamond World Series ring, but a ceramic likeness is still pretty cool. For Met players Mike Piazza, Roberto Alomar and Al Leiter, the vaunted Bobblehead Day is on the horizon this season.

Piazza will be the first Bobblehead giveaway April 28 against Milwaukee. Alomar will have his Bobblehead Day July 14 against Philadelphia. Leiter’s Bobblehead giveaway comes against Arizona on Aug. 3. All three Bobbleheads will be distributed to the first 12,000 kids 12-and-under.

The Mets released their promotional schedule yesterday, and they will celebrate their 40th anniversary on the weekend of Aug. 17-18. On Saturday, Aug. 17, prior to the 7:10 p.m. game against Los Angeles, the Mets have an elaborate 40th anniversary celebration planned. The following day, they will induct their 21st member into the club’s Hall of Fame.
