Sometimes you just have to say goodbye and let it go.

At least that’s what Preston Johnson did during Game 2 of the College World Series Championship Final.

The Mississippi State pitcher was stellar on Tuesday in Omaha, relieving starter Houston Harding in the fifth inning. However, he had one major blunder when he surrendered a home run to Vanderbilt’s Maxwell Romero Jr.

As he watched the ball fly away, Johnson immediately knew it was a goner. Staring at the ball’s trajectory, Johnson sent it a little wave goodbye with an exaggerated sad face.

Two batters later, Johnson and the Bulldogs put the game to rest, topping the Commodores, 13-2 to even things at a game apiece.

A decisive Game 3 of the College World Series will take place on Wednesday night.
