The school may barely be in existence anymore because of Department of Education rearranging, but Martin Luther King, Jr. still has perhaps the most dominant team of any sport in the city.
The Knights won their fifth straight PSAL soccer title, knocking off Flushing, 7-0, last night at St. John’s Belson Field. It marked MLK’s ninth straight appearance in the finals under coach Martin Jacobson.
The Knights, who survived a 1-0 match against Aviation in the semifinals, left nothing to chance in the championship. They were led by sophomore striker Cheick Danioko, who netted four goals.
Lincoln beat Sheepshead Bay, 2-1, to capture the PSAL ‘B’ crown.
