The Knicks are finally headed in the right direction, according to general managers around the NBA.
An NBA GM survey voted the Knicks as the NBA’s second-most improved team behind the Heat. And let’s face it, no one was going to beat the Heat, who added LeBron James and Chris Bosh this offseason. Miami got 39.3 percent of the vote, while the Knicks and Wizards each got 14.3 percent. The 12-win Nets finished fourth with 10.7 percent of the vote.
The Knicks finished last season 29-53 and added Amar’e Stoudemire this offseason. They struck out on James, but after “The King” made his decision, the Knicks sent David Lee to the Warriors for Anthony Randolph, Kelenna Azubuike and Ronny Turiaf. They would later add Raymond Felton, Roger Mason and Russian center Timofey Mozgov, who has received rave reviews from head coach Mike D’Antoni.
The Nets really have nowhere to go but up following last season’s 12-win campaign, and underwent a roster reconstruction this offseason. They drafted Derrick Favors with the No. 3 pick; signed Anthony Morrow, Jordan Farmar and Travis Outlaw; and acquired Troy Murphy in a four-team trade.
The GMs also predicted the Lakers will win NBA championship and Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant will be the MVP.
