NEW FACES AS METROS OPEN CAMP
The MetroStars’ ongoing search for attacking players continues, and has led to them bringing Peter Ofori-Quaye to training camp today in Florida.
Once regarded as a rising star in Africa, Ofori-Quaye, a 23-year-old Ghanian, is a free transfer, after being let go by Olympiakos in Greece. He was a million-dollar transfer as a teen, but mustered just 24 goals in six seasons.
The Metros also will bring 23-year-old left-sided Georgian midfielder David Dolidze of WIT Tbilisi; former Rev Johnny Torres; Kirk Wilson; goalkeeper prospect Steve Reese; and David Hayes, who scored for Chicago three minutes into a game versus the Metros back in 2001.
