The bloodline and the first-round pedigree are there. The Islanders are hoping Robert Nilsson can parlay them into a locker at Nassau Coliseum. The son of former Flames and Oilers star Kent Nilsson, the 6-1, 185-pound right winger has signed a three-year contract and will try to make the big club in training camp next month.

“Robert adds another offensive dimension for us,” GM Mike Milbury said. “I like our forwards a lot, but I would consider Robert – even though he’s just 20 and still developing – as gifted a playmaker as anyone on our team.”
