Rising American soccer star Jaedyn Shaw is Gotham-bound.

The North Carolina Courage agreed to trade the U.S. Women’s National Team midfielder to Gotham FC for a record $1.25 million, ESPN reported on Monday night.

The price tag of the deal is a new intraleague record for the NWSL, which had previously been set in August when the Utah Royals sent USWNT forward Ally Sentnor to the Kansas City Current for $600,000, and joins the list of seven-figure women’s soccer transfers globally.

The deal comes as Gotham sits in sixth place in the NWSL standings and the club looks to add to its trophy collection after winning the inaugural CONCACAF W Champions Cup earlier this year.

Gotham is planning on signing Shaw through the 2029 season, according to the ESPN report.

Shaw has caught fire as of late, scoring two goals in her past three NWSL matches, including over the weekend when she scored on a penalty kick in the 89th minute against Utah.

The 20-year-old has three goals and an assist while starting 10 matches this season for North Carolina.

This marked the second time that Shaw had been traded in the calendar year after she was dealt by the San Diego Wave in January in a deal that brought her to the East Coast.

The Courage had sent $300,000 in allocation money, international spots for the 2025 and 2026 seasons and a $150,000 intraleague transfer fee as part of the deal.

Shaw has been in the NWSL since 2022, when she appeared in five matches for the Wave during her first pro season.

She had been on the Wave roster during the 2023 season when San Diego won the NWSL Shield and the NWSL Challenge Cup, while also being named to the NWSL Best XI that year after recording a career best six goals and three assists.

The Texas native has tallied eight goals for the senior women’s national team in 26 caps for the squad and was named the Women’s Gold Cup’s best player in 2024.

Gotham FC (7-6-6), who have won their past two games after defeating Angel City on Sunday, will face the Wave in San Diego on Friday in their next regular-season match.
