The New York Racing Association, which last Thursday sent shockwaves through the track by ousting four top officials including longtime racing secretary Mike Lakow, steward Dave Hicks and chief veterinarian Celeste Kunz, lopped off another head Tuesday when J. William Byrne, its chief financial officer since September 2003, was shown the door.

Byrne has been replaced by Mike Kravchenko, who served as CFO of the Daily Racing Form when NYRA CEO Charles Hayward was the Form’s president. Also yesterday, David Smuckler was named NYRA’s new vice president of human resources, filling the position vacated when Ralph Chetcuti was fired Thursday.
