Dan Silver, director of communications and media relations at the New York Racing Association since 2009, has been appointed director of racing operations by the Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in Grantville, Pa., effective Oct. 22.
Silver, 32, will remain with NYRA through Oct. 1. He joins Ken Cook, former senior vice president of operations and security, as the second top executive to leave NYRA after Gov. Andrew Cuomo effectively engineered a state takeover of the troubled association last May.
Silver, a graduate of the University of Arizona’s Race Track Industry Program, will manage the racing and pari-mutuel operations at Penn National Race Course, including its four off-track wagering facilities and account wagering operation.
“I am very excited to join the terrific team at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course,” said Silver, a native of Philadelphia. “I believe that my experiences at NYRA will help me continue the progress being made in the racing program at Penn National on a number of levels, and I am looking forward to the opportunity.”
