Freshman Wes Lunt completed all 11 of his passes in a brief first outing as the new starting quarterback for No. 19 Oklahoma State and the Cowboys beat outmatched Savannah State 84-0 last night.

The defending Big 12 champs drove for touchdowns on their first five possessions to take a 35-0 lead late in the first quarter, then used the rest of the game as a scrimmage to get playing time for their reserves.

Joseph Randle ran for 107 yards and two TDs on just six carries and Jeremy Smith ran for three scores for the Cowboys. Savannah State had won just four games in against FCS competition in 10 years and was playing a team from the FBS for the first time.

USC 49, Hawaii 10

In Los Angeles, Marqise Lee caught a 75-yard touchdown pass on the first play and returned a kickoff 100 yards for a score, and No. 1 Southern California rolled over Hawaii.

Matt Barkley kicked off his Heisman Trophy campaign with 377 yards passing and four touchdowns, and Lee caught 10 passes for 197 yards for the Trojans, whose offensive stars were every bit as impressive as expected in their first game since their two-year NCAA bowl ban ended.

Oklahoma 24, UTEP 7

In El Paso, Texas, Landry Jones threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns as No. 4 Oklahoma defeated UTEP.

Oregon 57, Arkansas St. 34

In Eugene, Ore., Kenjon Barner rushed for 65 yards and two toucdowns, while Marcus Mariota threw for 216 yards and three touchdowns in No. 5 Oregon’s win over Arkansas State.

Florida St. 69, Murray St. 3

In Tallahassee, Fla., Lonnie Pryor rushed for three touchdowns, and James Wilder Jr. and Debrale Smiley had two TD runs each to lead No. 7 Florida State to a rout of Murray State.

Wisconsin 26, No. Iowa 21

In Madison, Wis., Montee Ball rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown, and No. 12 Wisconsin needed a big defensive play to survive a fourth-quarter scare from Northern Iowa.

Clemson 26, Auburn 19

In Atlanta, Andre Ellington rushed for 231 yards, DeAndre Hopkins set a school record with 13 receptions — and caught the clinching touchdown with 9:17 left — and No. 14 Clemson held on for the victory over Auburn.

LSU 41, North Texas 14

In Baton Rouge, La., Kenny Hilliard rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns, and No. 3 LSU beat North Texas.

Texas 37, Wyoming 17

In Austin, Texas, Joe Bergeron and Malcolm Brown both rushed for more than 100 yards and combined for three touchdowns, leading No. 15 Texas over Wyoming.

W. Virginia 69, Marshall 34

In Morgantown, W.Va., Geno Smith threw for 323 yards and four touchdowns, setting a school record for completions and TD passes, and leading No. 11 West Virginia over Marshall.

Ohio St. 56, Miami (Ohio) 10

In Columbus, Ohio, Braxton Miller rushed for 161 yards, a record for an Ohio State quarterback, and threw for two scores as the No. 18 Buckeyes ushered in the Urban Meyer era with a rout of Miami of Ohio.

In other games, No. 6 Georgia beat Buffalo, 45-23; No. 10 Arkansas topped Jacksonville State, 49-24; No. 17 Nebraska won its 27th straight opener, 49-20 over Southern Mississippi; No. 22 Kansas State trounced Missouri State, 51-9; and No. 23 Florida edged Bowling Green, 27-14.
