Even over salary, Krzysztof Oliwa keeps fighting.

Bucking a league-wide trend that has seen 11 of 14 salary arbitration cases settled before the hearing, Oliwa and the Devils squared off before the mediator yesterday in Toronto, unable to agree on a new contract for the 26-year-old thumper.

The arbitrator’s decision is expected to be delivered tomorrow, one day before Brian Rolston is slated for his hearing. Oliwa made 325G last season, piling up 240 penalty minutes while scoring five goals and seven assists as one of the most feared fighters in the league.
