At age 14, Ginny Thrasher bagged a deer on her first-ever hunting trip; five years later, she became the first American to bag a gold medal in Rio.
“This is beyond my wildest dreams,” said the West Virginia University freshman, who at 19 is the youngest shooter on the 15-member US Olympics rifle team.
Thrasher, of Springfield, Va., had started out with a bang Saturday in the 10-meter women’s air rifle finals: Her very first shot was a stunning bull’s-eye.
