The United States women’s curling team fell just short of making history Saturday.
The Canadian women beat the U.S. 10-7 to capture the bronze medal at the 2026 Milan Cortina Games.
It was Canada’s first women’s curling medal since 2014.
Meanwhile, the U.S. women will have to wait another four years to potentially win the country’s first Olympic medal in women’s curling.

Team USA’s fourth-place finish tied for the country’s best result in the event.
Canada was the top-ranked women’s curling team heading into the Olympics but it was stunned by the Sweden squad in Friday’s semifinals.
After the loss, Canadian curler Rachel Homan told reporters the team was “obviously disappointed.”
“But our work is not done here,” Homan continued. “We’re going to come out fighting tomorrow.”
That’s just what Canada did.

The U.S. led 3-2 heading into the sixth end, but the Americans made a few costly mistakes, which the Canadians capitalized on.
After the game, American Tabitha Peterson told NBC that she was “really proud of the team.”

REUTERS“Obviously, we didn’t come out with a medal, but still a really good week,” she said. “I’m trying to suppress them [feelings], but I don’t know why, so just let them flow. We worked so hard, but just so proud of how we got here and how we performed this week.”
The U.S. women’s team finished the 2026 Games with a 6-5 overall record.
