Jack Hughes: 'I love where I'm at'

Speaking to reporters after the game, it was clear Jack Hughes is fully confident in where his game is at.

Hughes had two goals in Team USA's win over Slovakia on Friday and has played well during the Olympic tournament.

“I’ve felt all the way back the last bunch of years. I don't know, I've had a lot of injuries, but I'm a hockey player," Hughes told reporters, according to The Post's Mollie Walker. "I think I've been playing well. I know everyone doesn't watch the Devils every single night, but I love where I'm at and I've always believed in myself. I know the player I am.“

USA crushes Slovakia to set up Olympic gold medal showdown with Canada

MILAN — After 48 hours of hectic Olympic hockey, with comebacks and overtime winners and golden goals pouring in nonstop at Santagiulia Arena, Team USA produced something long forgotten on Friday night:

A straightforward victory.

The Yanks went and dominated Slovakia in the semifinal round, relegating the tournament’s Cinderella tale to the bronze medal game with an emphatic 6-2 victory while setting up a matchup of Goliaths for the gold medal on Sunday.

Historical significance of gold medal game date

The date holds some very significant meaning for Americans. That was the same date that the United States beat the Soviet Union in the 1980 Olympics, better known as the "Miracle on Ice."
