Running back Savon Huggins, considered the top player in the New York metropolitan area, has signed a letter of intent to attend Rutgers.
Joining him is Al Page of Christopher Columbus in The Bronx.
Coming off a disastrous 4-8 season that included the defection of one-time poster boy quarterback Tom Savage, coach Greg Schiano signed 24 players to letters of intent, including some of the very best in his back yard.
Besides Page and Huggins of St. Peter’s Prep, Rutgers landed four other top players in the New Jersey-New York area: Don Bosco Prep quarterback Gary Nova, Long Branch receiver Miles Shuler, linebacker Quentin Gause of Bishop Kearney in Rochester, N.Y., and defensive linemen Marquise Wright of Paramus Catholic.
