All that’s left for Carl Pavano is to be fitted for pinstripes.

Pavano and the Yankees were putting the finishing touches on his four-year $40 million contract yesterday. According to an industry source, the deal also includes a fifth-year team option for $13 million along with a $2 million buyout. Pavano can pre-empt the option by throwing either 400 innings in 2007 and 2008 combined or by hitting 200 innings in 2008 alone.

Pavano will likely be introduced at a press conference on Wednesday, although that could be up in the air because of the Randy Johnson situation.
